My contacts are not saving. I have a text message with a number that I have not saved to my contacts. When I click to add the contact and go through the incredibly cumbersome add poster and add profile photo flow the contact name does not save.
Adding a contact photo poster and contact photo is so cumbersome.

This is a screen rendering bug that occurs when the font size has been changed to larger than the default. The 'Add Contact' button then only shows up WAY at the bottom after many screens of scrolling. Several workarounds can be used. 1) reduce the font size back to default, OR 2) Press and hold on the 'Person Icon' to the left of the number in the messages screen and submenu will pop up allowing 'Create New Contact', etc. (2) seems to be the better option.

This just saved me after 39 minutes of searching online. When you try to save a text to contacts, after you tap info, KEEP SCROLLING AND SCROLLING AND SCROLLING! I promise it is WAY down there! (Black screen, black screen, black screen and on and on and then suddenly - there it is! Save to contacts!)
I was in a chat with Apple Support. I went to screenshot the problem when I realized that after you click on info, Create a Contact is at the bottom of the page after about 6 screens of gray space! This still needs to be fixed but at least I can save a contact through text messages now!
Confirmed. After clicking info, I scrolled to the bottom when the slider stopped moving and scrolled for what felt like another 30 seconds. Felt like no way were any additional options going to appear, but the save contact did show up.
If you look at answers above you’ll see that when you want to add a contact, you have to keep scrolling down through grey space until you get to the option of “create a new contact”. Hard to believe that this hasn’t been fixed since it happened in October. Also, “hey Siri” is just “Siri” now.
Did you try scrolling down the screen after you click on info? I've found screens of empty gray space before I get to the section that says Create a Contact.
I can confirm that scrolling down several screens (no indication that you’re scrolling) works
Also confirming. you have to SCROOOOOOLLLLL way past several gray space pages and then you can add - it's insane but is there
Only solution I’ve found that works for me, is add the contact twice & deleting one.
OMG. Thank you so much!! Scrolling (and scrolling and scrolling!) to the bottom is the secret. 🤦🏻♀️ Apple! So surprised at your programmers!!
Same here. Spent hours with Apple Support on the phone, did a number of manipulations and even a factory reset but nothing is actually fixing the problem.
Apple Support suspected it was a phone issue. Just changed phones, backed up with my iCloud and issue is still there ... Conclusion : definitely a software issue.
The fix ? Still looking for it...

Even worse it’s saving the contact but not recognizing the number attached to the contact. So the number I’m texting is left without a contact name in my messages but now I have 4-5 contacts labeled with that same number. What is going on??
That’s a great way to put it! Grey space ! Fluttering grey space when you try to go to info to save either a new contact or one of the hundreds of contacts whom lost names and or were also removed from by contact list all along! The only thing I haven’t tried is hard reset and re back up from cloud. Anyone had success with that ?
