Frequent Errors in iCloud Photos Download

For the last few days I have been trying to download all my photos from my iCloud Photos to my hard disk. I have excellent wifi and ethernet connection - routinely get 60-100 MBPs bandwidth. Yet, the download works only 1 our of every 7-8 times, the rest of the time the download fails indicating decompression errors. I am a fairly experience IT guy so please do not mention routine questions such as "is the network connected, etc.?" Most other downloads of movies, etc. whether it be via Youtube, PrimeVideo, etc. never ever face any issues.

Hi nmsun,

If you're trying to download them from your web browser, we'd recommend trying a different browser to see what your results are. If you're trying to download them via the Photos app on your Mac, do you have it configured as described?

"On your Mac

Open the Photos app.
Choose Photos > Preferences.
Select iCloud, then click Download Originals to this Mac."

Have tried this on Safari and Firefox browsers - latest versions, so don't think this is browser related either. Same error on both. I won't use Chrome.
