Right now Wallpapers and Screensavers settings seem to be loaded with buggy issues. I made a post about my issue Sonoma Wallpapers and Screensaver Issues - Apple Community
If I try to use my own photo albums from the Photos library for Wallpapers and Screensavers I end up with a default Aerial wallpaper and a black screensaver. Right now people are fascinated with Aerials so may not be noticing what is happening when they want to use their own personal photo albums. Will see lots more complaints as time goes by about these issues.

One hour ago, I updated my Mac to macOS Sonoma. The wallpaper now shows grey, the screensaver displays a black screen, and Mission Control is not working.
Apple's development process is unprofessional. Shame on the Apple team. Why not test the new OS before release?

Yeah it’s a total mess right now for these basic features of the OS. I remember Ventura had the broken screensaver issue when using Photos albums. Now Sonoma is broken wallpaper and screensaver when using Photos albums.
all software companies want everyone else to do their work for them by finding out what doesn’t work and reporting it to them. Very bad customer service. Not sure why the customer should be expected to spend hours trying to fix bad software for an expensive device they bought.

You can file a bug report /submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple
or simply wait for point up dates to sort the issue.
I've performed Shut Down and then relaunched. At first, this fixed the issue and I was able to apply the Drift screen saver with a pic of my choice as the Wallpaper, but then on its own without Restarting or Shutting Down, the Black Screen Saver reappeared.
I performed the Shut Down again, tried selecting Drift again and once again, the Black Screen Saver is happening.
Screen Saver is NOT working like in Ventura!!
Thank you Mal-S
Did not help…
Safe mode:
I have Wallpaper right after restart, but then (after Log-in) it goes to Black.
Try restarting in safe mode followed by a normal restart.
Happening to me too. Hoping someone has a useful suggestion
The problem sorted by itself.
Thank you for the replies and suggestions.
Cheers, Egils
