iPhone 13, iOS 17
I made the mistake of installing the 17.2.1 update, which is full of serious bugs. I have an iPhone 12 with T-Mobile cell service. The phone would not connect to the cell network, just cranked and cranked and gave an error message, so no calls or data. Tried shutting down and restarting several times - no luck.
When I called Apple they tried for a hour, but could not fix it. They said they’d have to wipe my phone and reinstall everything, but could give no assurance this would solve anything.
They then suggested I call T-Mobile to see if they could help - very frustrating when Apple caused the issue. T- Mobil, on the other hand, was very helpful, but had to walk me through loading a new eSIM card, and basically resetting up the data on the phone to connect. It worked for a few hours, but now won’t connect until I reset network settings, which I’ve had to do several times. And the phone also no longer remembers WiFi passwords for the network we are on.
Very frustrating that an Apple update has not been tested enough, and therefore causes such serious issues. If you want to be able to use your phone during the holidays, stay away from this awful update!

The forced restart worked. It took multiple attempts.
1) Volume up
2) Volume down
3) Hold right button until the Apple icon appears. I had to hold nearly 2 minutes before the icon appeared.
UI touchscreen issues resolved. No problems with subsequent update to 17.2.1
YALL WHEN I SAY DONT DO IT DONT DO IT.

My iPad is unusable after 17.2 update to the point I had to download a Microsoft keyboard! This will be my last Apple product. Wake up Apple. People are fed up.
I would encourage you to use whatever best meets your requirements. Microsoft Windows, Linux, whatever.
As for your issue here, usual would be a forced restart and testing again, and failing that then removal of any added VPN apps or add-on security apps and a restart and test, then a backup and factory reset and restore, then a discussion directly with Apple Support.
But again, if something else better meets your needs, please use that.
Absent some specific reason not to apply updates, applying the most current is recommended. I’ve previously loaded iOS and iPadOS 17.0.1, and am now starting to load 17.0.2, and will likely also apply 17.1 and 17.2 if (when?) those versions arrive.

Exactly the same has anyone solved it yet?
Force-restart your iPhone: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
Hold the third button press until the Apple logo appears, continuing to hold past any slider that might appear.
Failing that restart, shut off iCloud Contacts, wait a ~minute, restart the iPhone, and re-enable iCloud Contacts.
Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Apps / Show All > Contacts > Off, wait, restart, On.
If that then fails, and if you have Google Contacts configured (CardDAV), try disabling that and see if the issue clears.
If the problem persists, contact Apple Support.

I’m having no Mac device sync issues (past one initial “stuck” case that was cleared), no dialing issues, no call-quality issues, and haven’t noticed any Bluetooth issues with Beats gear though I’m not using transparency.

Or discuss this with Apple Support, as you might have a weird hardware problem here.
Don’t update to 17.0.3 ….. heating issue was solved in the last update but after 0.3 update iPhone 13 started heating!
wtf is apple doing?
dont ruin your brand… people are not ready suffer themselves after paying you an enormous amount 😐
please do some RnD before launching!
we can’t even hold the phone…. 17.0.2 was way better.
Me too! I updated my iOS to 17.2 7 hours ago today 13 Dec. 2023. I noticed that the photos sent via Messenger App does not open and displays the message "This media is media is no longer available". Also, whenever I open a video via Messenger App, it will just keep on loading and froze. When opening these photos and videos in my other device with Android OS, everything is perfectly fine and there were no problem opening them...... Same thing here i turned off my device multiple times, still the same, still not working properly as expected.....
What is happening with iOS 17.2???
I have iPhone 13 Pro Max and still have 100GB free internal storage, by the way....

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 13. A lot of freezing, and delayed or unresponsive moments. Phone gets very hot. I have 17.2.1 so I’m hoping there is a fix with 17.2.2 and checking for it everyday.
Contact Apple Support, as that could be an indication of a hardware problem.

Turn off auto updates It has ruined my experience & I plan to get my phone changed to a non Apple device. I hate what the update has done. My phone AI has a life of it’s own. This means I will loose my Apple watch too & though phone is not paid off I just don’t care anymore. It is a nightmare. I feel invaded and resentful at the changes it made & continues to do. Good luck to anyone else dealing with this. Apple could cate less

In the last decade or so, big updates arrive yearly.
Smaller updates can arrive probably monthly, though that can vary.
Security updates and fixes arrive as needed.
The big updates might also involve app updates.
The smaller updates and the security updates are intended to be compatible with existing apps.
As for iOS and iPadOS 17.0.1, that was intended to address a security exploit. The particular exploit was reportedly being actively used against some folks.
Apple has not provided particular details of iOS and iPadOS 17.0.2, other than that there are no published security reports ("CVEs") associated with the 17.0.2 update, and that the update avoids issues when migrating content.
Looking at past versions and updates and patching activity, Apple usually provides iOS and iPadOS updates for roughly five years, though that can vary.
Once the iPhone or iPad is no longer supported by the most current version, Apple sometimes releases security fixes for those older devices.
i don’t like the new updates in messages!!! i HATE the plus button it’s so much more work to find photos now :( or to find games or gifs. i liked the scroll bar and it even went away while you texted so it was very inconvenient!!!! i don’t like the plus at all and i think their should be options for people who don’t like certain things about the update so they can change it later in settings maybe under “update changes” and you can switch things back but have the bug fixes or other things you like in the update. it would be VERY helpful. i hate having fits like these because change makes me upset and i know i should get over it because that’s how the world is but we should have more options too. ESPECIALLY because these items are made for the purpose of customer satisfaction.
Apple isn’t here. Apple may or may not read replies and bug reports here.
If updating to iOS 17.0.2 does not resolve your issue (and I’d doubt that it does, based on the release notes), then report the issue directly to Apple via their preferred feedback path: Product Feedback - Apple
