There are many ways they will suck you into a subscription. How you cancelled depends on where it was signed up from. You will only be able to cancel on your device if you had downloaded the app and signed up for a subscription from there. This does not seem to be the case for you, since you are having problems cancelling and don't remember getting the app. To verify the Purchase History, go to Settings > [name on top] > Media & Purchases > View Account > Purchase History.
The other ways you may have been trapped by a subscription are from the website, Samsung TV, LG TV, Roku, or Fire TV. With these other methods you will need to cancel on the website. If you have other family members, they may have been the one that fell for the subscription if you payment info is available on the device. Try going to their website and see if there is an account set up when you click the sign in button. If the user ID and Password fills in automatically, you have an account and will need to cancel there.
