Since iPadOS 17.0.1, device doesn't allow autofill account credentials on websites without an SSL certificate (HTTP) in Safari. Websites with HTTPS will autofill?

Since updating my iPad to 17.0.1 http, pages are not storing my logins and I am not being shown my password unlock key. Https sites are working fine and logins are stored and key is available.

browser used is Safari

ipad 3rd gen 12.9

I don't own an iPad but I Safari refuses to autofill my username/password on my MacBook and iPhone since I updated them to iOS 17 and macOS 14.

This is super annoying as there are many users who want to use autofill in their local network, on webservices without https. Perhaps it's finally time to switch to an alternative browser as there seems to be no available option to change this behaviour.
