Disable Caps Lock Indicator on macOS Sonoma

A feature has been added to macOS Sonoma - the onscreen caps lock indicator.

While i am sure this may be useful for some, for me it is not, is there any way to disable it?

OK maryo10 and others asking, here goes. There is nothing magic about using Terminal for Apple if you follow the steps verbatim and copy and paste the Command exactly as printed from a trusted source

First you have to be logged on your computer as the Administrator. In other words you need to be logged on and able to make changes by entering your username/admin password.

Here is how to access the Terminal app

Go to Applications/Utilities/Terminal App. Open The Terminal App

Once open Click Return/Enter (you should see your computer name and your user name) Now you are ready to enter the command

Copy and Paste (do not try to write it) the command that yochess posted. Disable Caps Lock Indicator on macOS Sono… - Apple Community The post is the third post I believe.

I will reprint it here but all credit goes to yochees This command has worked perfectly for me. MacBookPro running Sonoma

Make sure you copy and paste exactly as written. No spaces and no deletions.

With Terminal app open and your username showing copy the first line of the command and paste to the Terminal app.

Click Return/Enter and it will ask for your admin password. Enter password and click Return/Enter

First line of command

sudo mkdir -p /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain

Now copy the last two lines of the command and paste to the Terminal app.

Click Return/Enter.

Last two lines of command

sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add 'redesigned_text_cursor:Enabled' bool false" /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/UIKit.plist

Now restart your computer. All done.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone found an actual solution that does not involve going into the terminal? Please say yes.

I'm an architect - buildings, not computers - and I work drawings and design - in Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, etc. All-caps is industry standard for the text notes on architectural drawings. That arrow is continuously in my way. It's the most enraging thing and such a waste of time to constantly deal with. I have been irritated by it for months, and now it has driven me to join the apple community and post this.

No - most people do NOT feel like figuring out how to use terminal. Go into terminal. Whatever. Please tell me there's a real solution that doesn't involve terminal. I don't even know how to get to whatever that is.

False. Most people - of any age - don't have knowledge or desire to use terminal. Including myself.

I didn't say anyone did have experience. I said it wasn't that hard. The instructions posted here have been pretty good.

False. Having caps lock on is not a mistake - like another poster who mentioned autocad, I do a lot of graphics and design work where the text stays in all-caps - ON PURPOSE - while we are trying to draw. And that stupid little arrow is constantly in the way of the drawing.

I was responding to a specific person who had typed their response all in caps. I'm sorry that you don't understand sarcasm.

I do admit to being confused about why you are attacking a response made over six months ago to someone who isn't you.
