When I installed MacOS 14 Sonoma, I could choose between the default login background and the last background that was used on my Mac mini. I hoped I could change the background of the login screen afterwards, but there doesn't seems to be an option. It seems you get the choice only when installing the upgrade. Is there any way to change it?

There is no option to change the background I have chosen when I installed Sonoma. At start up the background is always what I have chosen at installation. (I had the choice between the standard background of Sonoma - green landscape picture or the last background I used when I installed Sonoma - I have a rotating background from a personal collection of backgrounds).
OK, I'm intrigued. Why should one turn off FileVault to be able to set a new lock screen wallpaper? Why is that not a setting under at least the admin account??? I assume it has to do with some technicality, but it irritates me to no end...
I have no idea but with Intel Macs that is the way it works. Probably has to do with security. You would have to ask Apple. Also, if you do turn it off and then set the wallpaper and then later turn FileVault back on it will go back to the default wallpaper.

Yes, I do have FileVault off on my Intel Mac. I haven’t updated my M1 Air yet.
This doesn‘t work for me in Sonoma 14.5. My MacBook has 3 users. I have changed the wallpaper on all 3 accounts, but the login screen still displays the default landscape.
