Importing AVI file to Photos via SD Card Very slow

I have been importing trailcam videos on my IPad Air (3rd) and IPhone 11 via an SD card into Photos for a very long time. They are .AVI files. Since upgrading to iOS 17, it is unbearably slow. Apple, please look into this. Thank you.

When transferring bulk or large files, consider using a third-party file manager App - as these are often both more stable and efficient than the native Files App.

Perhaps consider Stratopherix FileBrowser - Document Manager, or its “pro version” FileBrowser Professional:

You might review the extensive online Manual and help files to determine suitability for your needs.

I have the same problem since iOS17, i am using a outdoorcam/naturecam and used to import the videos with the Apple-Lightning-to-SD-Card-Reader, which worked perfectly fine - until iOS17. It got painfully slow and AVIs aren't played correctly anymore. Awfully slow import from the SD Card and playback extremely choppy, posting on social media impossible also.
