Crickets ringtone gone?

iOS 17 introduced new ringtones, but the Crickets ringtone still exists. At the bottom of the new ringtone list, you'll see a "Classic" option, which will open up a new list that contains Crickets.

Go to -> Settings -> Sound & Haptics -> Ringtone -> scroll down to & tap Classic -> Crickets.

I just checked on my iPhone and Cricket ringtone is alive and well in Classics in my phone on iOS 17.0.3. Are you trying to set it for your phone ringtone or are you trying to use it as a text tone? It is no longer there for text tones. Whether it will be returned (there are issues with text tones in iOS 17) you'll need to wait for an update, which may address this.

WhenI upgraded my iPhone SE 2020 to 17.2.1, the cricket text sound disappeared. I had wondered for over a week why I wasn’t noticing when I got texts. It’s not under Classic or anywhere else. I looked several times for a long, long time each time. I sent a feedback notice to Apple, too. The more of us that do that, maybe we’ll get our cricket sound back. It’s not like cricket sounds are copyrighted or anything, lol! Right now I’m thinking of downgrading back to my earlier version of iOS.

Download all ringtones and it will be present, but only as a Phone ringtone.

No one here on this user to user only forum is associated with Apple, so we can't tell you why Apple chose to make this change. Apple doesn't participate here, so they won't won't see your question, nor respond to you.

Crickets were gone before IOS 17. The cricket ringtone quit working on my phone 7Plus back in summer of 2024. Upgraded to 15 Plus and cricket was present but still not working. Trying to fix it was useless. The minute I tried to switch to another ringtone, cricket selection disappeared.

Not that I have interest in using Crickets as my ringtone, but it's alive and well as a Phone ONLY ringtone (not message) ringtone on my iPhone 15 Pro Max on iOS 17.2.1

I think the crickets ringtones is listed in the phonecall choices, not in the text choices. Before the latest IOS update, I used the crickets ringtone for texting, which I cannot anymore. I really miss it. Don’t understand why it’s available only for phone calls and not texts. Please bring it back, please!

has there been a response? Why is it in the ring time list but not text? It makes no sense. Why aren’t all the tones available? The other one I was looking for was news flash? Perhaps in the next up grade they will allow users to explore different tones without automatically changing the selection. Very, very annoying.

I have been trying to find the crickets tones and can’t as well. So I sent a product request to Apple just now stating that I can’t hear most of their tones and even so they mostly create unnecessary stress when I do hear them.

So in the interests of Accessibility I stated I have hearing problems from working in a loud environment. And that is true. And it’s way less stressful to hear a cricket than any of the other sounds. 🤞🤞

That and the old fashioned telephone sound. I can hear that right away. Otherwise I don’t know if I have a text or call.

Not on social media but anyone who is could start a campaign to get the crickets back.?
