macOS Sonoma "These settings have been configured by a profile"

After installing macOS Sonoma, I can't make any changes to the account in settings.

A search indicated an iPhone setting could cause this via this post.

Sonoma beta and AppleID, managed by profile?

What did not solve my issue.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.0

 -> System Settings -> Screen Time -> Content & Privacy -> Preference Restrictions -> Allow Account Changes (Open) will disable such alert message.

Thank you -- that solved it for me.

Background: Turning off "Allow Account Changes" on iPhones (and presumably iPads) has recently been a recommended security practice. Doing so makes it much more difficult for someone to change your iCloud password if your phone has been stolen. In macOS versions prior to Sonoma, this restriction in Screen Time did not carry over. But now, if you choose to use this feature of Screen Time, it becomes much more important to keep track of your Screen Time Passcode.
