macOS Music - "Recently Added" no longer showing all entries

Since Mountain Lion and iTunes, there was a way to view all added entries since inception of the library, in chronological order based on the added-time. This is a wonderful way of traveling back in time through the years of music, on which years which music has been added, and re-discovering old tracks.

For a long time, this has been present under the "Recently Added" section in "Library".

Since macOS Sonoma, this is no longer the case.

"Recently Added" currently shows 60 albums on my library, and I suspect this is hard-limited to this number. I find no way of lifting this limit, nor do I find a replacement view.

Edit: Notably, this feature is still present on music.apple.com.

Is this an error on my part or did macOS Sonoma depart from this - to me - essential feature of the Music app?

Apple: please fix this. It's unacceptable to remove a long-time feature for no reason. At least leave it in as a toggle or option. iOS can still do it in the album view. Why can't my more powerful Mac?

Just updated to Sonoma 14.1.2 and there isn't the "sort by Date Added" option in the Album library. The recently added library still displays only 60 albums. So nothing's changed. :(

I'm having the same issue after the update. Put in a call into Apple support to investigate. Hopefully this will get fixed in future updates.

I agree with others and am glad to see more people were used to this recently added "timeline" view to memorizing and browsing the music using album covers. Now, the app is useless for me...

From what I can tell the first update to macOS isn’t changing this.

I think we might struggle to get Apple to revert this.

@jyhas - correct, however RC is out now for 14.1 and it's not changed - so we're not seeing it reverted in the first big update. Which leads me to think they'll never changed it.

its gross they need to change it back asap like please. also it keeps splitting up my albums when I download yet it'll show up normal as just one album on my phone?

Maybe worth as many people as possible calling their support line since this costs Apple money and is harder to ignore than feedback forms?

I am also struggling without this feature. I just added a lot of CD’s to iTunes Match and it will only show me the last few CD’s I added. I hope they bring this feature back. 😔

Same here, I only just updated to Sonoma now, but this is a huge regression in UX for me.

This was my preferred way to navigate the library, please restore this feature!
