How to eject a DVD from the external CDROM drive on an older iMac.

The DVD had lots of photos stored and it was taking a long time for them to be opened, one at a time. I tried to eject the DVD from the drive but it wouldn't eject. I left the computer running so all the photos could be opened. When I came back the computer had gone to sleep. I opened the desktop and the symbol for the CDROM Drive was gone, but the DVD had not been ejected.

How to I get the DVD out of the external drive??

Should I shut the computer down and see if it ejects?

Not much help in other threads here. I don't see a manual eject button or hole to force an ejection.

Suggestions??

Thanks

Dialabrain (interesting user name),

Thanks for your quick and helpful reply. I did what you suggested and it worked. I shut down the computer and the disk did not eject when the iMac shut down. I waited about a minute and then restarted it with the mouse held down as the iMac came back on line, the disk ejected from the CDROM drive.

It worked!

Thanks!
