I connected my superdrive (CD player) with the usb-c to usb adaptor and it is still not working.

Since you're using an adapter to connect with your Mac, make sure you have an Apple certified and compatible adapter as this can cause it to not be recognized. Try connecting with another adapter next, then connect your SuperDrive to another Mac to check if it's being recognized.
