When I start up my MacBook Pro, the dropdown menus under the Apple icon and Finder are all rolled up and do not drop down when selected. I have to open Safari for the menus to work properly.
What is going on?

Had exact same problem on my iMac after update to Sonoma. Here's what fixed it for me:
Force Quit Finder
*Luckily the Apple menu works if you open another app, or browser.
Yeah it happened to me too after a day. It’s still working as normal. Wondering if it should update my iMac now. Probably wait for 14.1!
I've tried ALL these things, to no avail – or ALMOST no avail. The "safe mode" check went fine and all was good for about 12 hours after that. Now it isn't, again.
Safe mode start has worked for me - so far - so Flower Sponge's update is disappointing. However mine is an M1, so the steps for Safe Mode starting were quite different.
Mine has been working ever since I made the change. Let us know if you have any issues.
This has been my experience, as well. It is sporadically working, not working.
Tried to Force Quit Finder just now, will only let me relaunch it.???

Same happened to me, even in Safari. Funny thing is, it only started happening a few days ago and I only bought this computer about 4 months ago.
