TextEdit not displaying recent documents

MacBook Pro, Ventura 13.5.1


This topic was addressed in 2012 but the solution shown in that thread has not fixed this problem in my 2023 operating system. Updated solution is kindly requested.

If you are relating to the sub-menu under Open Recents being empty, then two things need to happen:


  1. System Settings : Control Center panel : Recent documents, applications, and servers [ 10 ] (or your choice)
  2. Open and save new documents in TextEdit to being populating its Open Recent sub-menu with the item count you chose above.
