Notes somehow erased important text, any way to access history?

After updating my Macbook and iPhone the Notes app didn't sync, and some critical notes got deleted. any way to recover the data? It was apparently never synced to the Macbook and is not on iCloud. This is the first time Notes has ever lost my data and now I am hesitant to use it anymore.

Hi Gnarlodious,

Did you recently remove any email accounts from your device? We ask because notes can be synced to email accounts and may be removed if the email accounts are removed. You can also try the suggestions here to see if your notes can be recovered:
