Can I recover contents accidentally overwritten in a Note?

In Notes, have a note where I was keeping track of books that I have read in a large table. Through some careless typing, I accidentally deleted the whole table. The note still exists, but the table is now gone, so the note is empty. Is there any way to recover this lost content?

I am well backed up, but this note is stored in iCloud, and my backups only include what is stored on my Mac. Is there some way to find a previous version of this note on iCloud?

Mac mini, macOS 15.7

Check iCloud.com → Recently Deleted (first + fastest fix)

Go here:

On the left sidebar, look for:

Recently Deleted

If the table was deleted inside the note, iCloud may have stored the entire previous version as a separate deleted note — even if the “shell” note remains.

If you find it:

  1. Select the note
  2. Click Recover

This works surprisingly often.
