When I download files in Sonoma, all files are hidden, I have to use command+shift+. to make those files unhidden, any idea about how to fix this issue? Every file(including regular image and google doc) downloaded is hidden, which makes no sense...

Same issue. All downloaded folders and files from all browsers are invisible. Opening in Safe Mode did not help so it is not likely an issue with an addon. It is more likely an issue in the OS.
I can make them visible for a session by using the commands noted in this thread but some applications still won't see them (especially anything running in and emulation like Parallels.)
Started after upgrading to Sonoma and have not been able to fix.
Where do I find this? I searched for Bitdefender and didn't find it.
Same problem. Even spoke to two different reps from Mac Support and they weren't sure what is causing this issue. Somebody please help us!

Files downloaded on Chrome to the default folder are hidden.
Same here. I tried this solution and it worked. I've disabled iCloud sync in Settings. Hopefully Apple can fix this issue asap.

Yes, I am having the same problem. It doesn't matter where they are downloaded from, like Chrome, outlook etc. I wish there was another way to find them without turning off iCloud
For me it's always with PDFs, downloaded through Google Chrome. This obviously didn't happen before. And yes, I have restarted my machine more than once since the upgrade.
BS. It is an Apple issue. I would love to go back. This latest OS is terrible. And calls to AppleSupport? Useless.

When I download a file from Google Chrome or Safari, I can't see the file except if I click shift command +
It also happens with pdf files, so it’s not a privacy feature but rather a bug in the operating system
Today my files downloaded normally. I didn't make any changes in the settings. I think there was something wrong with Sonoma that was corrected.

My invisible files issue ended after the macOS Sonoma 14.1 software release. Hopefully, everyone in this support post had the same results too. - Peace + Love!✌️🏽🩵
Not me... export JPG files created with Capture One, continue to be hidden, even after updating to Sonoma 14.1 ☹️
