Fixed it! – once I accidentally made ALL the Wallpapers the same via the "Screen Saver" System Setting – in "Screen Saver":
I was then able to access the "Wallpaper" System Setting.

Tried this - with each of the colors available in macOS 14.0 and some of the moving screen savers, trying Preview on all. Each time I went back to Wallpaper, I got the same error pop-up - but with a different code: 2042, 1300, 2099, 2189, 2241, and a few others before I started tracking them. Has anyone else experienced this or found a solution?
I already had these settings switched on and had the problem. I toggled them off and then back on again and still the same thing. Clicking on Wallpaper gives a Settings Error of Extension Process Wallpaper (21087) exited.
Apple needs to get on the ball. Over 6 weeks after launch and you can't perform a basic function in the OS.
I seem to have finally solved this. When I would go to Wallpaper in System Settings, I would get a completely blank page. Sometimes the title was Displays, sometimes nothing. I went into Screensaver in the System Settings and set that to Colors. That alone fixed my Screensavers, which were also acting up. I then went to Wallpaper, and the page was all there, ready and waiting for me to assign a wallpaper. After 24 hours, it is still working.
Does not work for my Mac. Still getting error on Wallpaper setting.
I just recently started getting this error 2/4/24. Rebooted, latest OS (Sonoma 14.4), no other errors, just that one. The thunderbolt display works perfectly fine (use one every day with the adapters) so not thinking this is part of the issue.
This did not work for me.
No joy
Same here. It worked the first time after logging out of iCloud and logging back in again. But accessing Wallpaper again provides the same error message. This is happening for me only on my MacMini. Regular Mac no issue.
read that if logout of iCloud and back in it resolves. I tried it, worked first time, tried to change second monitor and error came back again!
Yes, it worked - I went into Screensaver in the System Settings and set that to Colors.
many thanks S2
