I am having difficulty updating my iPhone 11 to IOS 17.0.2 is there a reason I am unable to do this that I may be missing?

I am connected to a strong wifi connection. The iPhone is plugged in with 100% battery and I have 12.2 GB of available space on the device.

iPhone 11, iOS 14

Hey there!

Thanks for asking the community. A little more information that would be helpful in helping you with this would be what exactly happens when you attempt to update iPhone.

There's a few things you can try if you're having troubles with updating iPhone. See HT201435 - If your iPhone or iPad won't update.

A couple more tips I might suggest would be to try and get a little more storage. You can check iPhone storage by going to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. There, you'll see a list of what's using storage on your iPhone. It may be helpful choosing to optimize iPhone storage in your iCloud Photos settings. It may also be helpful to set messages to automatically delete after either 30 days or a year under Settings > Messages.

Additionally, as long as you're sure your data is backed up, you can try to force an update by using Restore Mode - HT201263. Only do this if you're sure your important data is backed up. Try "Update" before you try "Restore", as a restore completely removes all of your data from the phone, and reloads fresh iOS files (which could ultimately fix your issue as a beyond last resort).

I hope this helped, and wish you the best of luck in your updating journey!

What happens when you try?

Can you post a screenshot of the whole screen, it could reveal why you aren't able to update.

Make sure you:

• Are using a WiFi connection (not a hotspot).

• You have an active cell signal (You need both WiFi and cellular service to perform the upgrade).

• Are not using a VPN connection.

• Have your battery charged at least 50%. Better yet, keep it plugged in during the update.

• Do not have power save mode turned on.

• Do not have a beta version installed.

• You have at least 10 gigs of storage available.

Thank you for providing screenshots. These are helpful in identifying the issue. It's still possible that you may still be experiencing issues due to the storage availability on your phone.

But since your error message says Unable to Verify, that tells me that your iPhone is having troubles properly talking to Apple's update servers. This can also be for a number of reasons, some of which can be a glitch in iOS, but most likely because of some sort of blocking on your network.

Before you try any of the iTunes Update or Restore methods, I would definitely try another WiFi network with a different internet service provider.

Hope this helped!
