Why is iTunes suddenly asking for my payment info for my iCloud account

Received email supposedly from iTunes that they need my payment info for my iCloud account. Nothing has changed so I have no idea why they would need this. All my other Apple apps etc have been paid with the same credit card info and no issues.

How do I know if this is a scam?

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 16

Hello Mimijj,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about an email.

Check if it's a real email from Apple: Identify legitimate emails from the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support

It's likely phishing: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

Whatever you do, do not click links from the email. Open your account in Settings on a device, or check your subscription is still valid: Manage App Store purchases, subscriptions, settings, and restrictions on iPad - Apple Support

Sometimes your payment has issues, like the card expired, check: Manage App Store purchases, subscriptions, settings, and restrictions on iPad - Apple Support

It might be as simple as adding a new card or the updated expiration to fix this. Thanks.
