Help!! Old phone broken and cannot remember Apple ID password to set up new phone

Hi!

Unfortunately today my iPhone completely broke and won’t even turn on.

I tried using my old phone and accessing all my data through iCloud, but I cannot remember my password and don’t have access to my phone number to verify the pin sent. I have now started the account recovery process but I can’t even get into my iCloud emails so I don’t know how I’m going to know what’s going on.

I am picking up a new phone tomorrow but my iCloud account is now locked. How do I get all of the data over to my new phone without having access to my phone number and icloud? I’m so stressed!

Hey randomchair,

You're on the right path with starting the account recovery process to regain access to your Apple ID. To access your iCloud data to transfer to your new iPhone, you will need access to your Apple ID account. Since you've started the process, check out the important information under "After you start account recovery" here: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support

When going through the process, you should've been able to enter a phone number where you can be reached when the wait period is over. To see the status, you'll want to visit the iForgot website as shown in the section "Check the status of your request".

After regaining access to your account, here are the steps to transfer it to your new iPhone: Transfer data from your previous iOS or iPadOS device to your new iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
