How do I output 5.1 surround sound on M1 MacBook Pro Running Sonoma 14.0?

I have the Chinese DriverGenius U2AUDIO7-1-DG External USB Sound Card but although it will plug and play 2.1 fine out of the box, no downloads of firmware or updates are possible. The literature accompanying the USB Card says it can be used on all laptops including Macs but apparently settings can only be configured in Windows. I tried using the Audio MIDI Setup Utility native to my 2021 M1 MBP, but although I can select various speaker configurations, it will only seem to reproduce sound through 2.1 channels. I am sending the USB-C output into a FITLONG USB-2.0 adapter, then into the Sound Card.
