Best method to export audio from Macbook Pro M3 to Logitech Z906 5.1 Speaker System

Trying to determine the best way to get sound to my Logitech Z906 5.1 channel surround system. The inputs on the Z906 include: 6-channel direct (PC sound card), RCA (stereo), Digital optical, and Digital coaxial.

Questions that I have that I haven't been able to find a reliable answer for here or on Reddit:

What is the best way to export a 5.1-channel signal (5 speakers + sub) to the system from my Mackbook? Can it even be done? Usb c or HDMI to SPDIF audio splitter? Is there another method aside from SPDIF digital get the best sound and carry a 5.1 signal?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.5

The MBPro M3 supports multi-channel output via the HDMI port. You must set it up in Audio MIDI Setup (in the Applications/Utilties folder). See Set up external speakers for stereo or surround sound in Audio MIDI Setup on Mac - Apple Support You would set up the multichannel output for the HDMI port.

If your Logitech or other audio device doesn't have an HDMI input you will need an HDMI Audio Extractor to convert the signal to optical, coax or analog. There are many on the market, ranging from about $20 on up (here is one example, I have not used it myself -> https://jtechdigital.com/product/jtech-audio-extractor-1080p-jtdat5ch/)
