HomeKit Home Wrong Location

Have you Tried delete de automation from Mac and re-create from Mac?

So as of update 17.2 my location issues have been fixed and my arrive home HomeKit automations are working again.

Same problem here. When i change the private address in my contact card it actually uses that location also for homekit automation. But after a few days it breaks again. Seems like something is interfering with the contact card and pushing a wrong location into the home app. also, i've noticed the wrong location is somewhere in the middle of nowhere and not always at the same spot.

Did anyone have the issue reoccur after iOS 17.1.1? I had 3 occurrences under 17.1 that I solved with the significant locations reset (though the last one took several hours to show effect). But since iOS 17.1.1 it has not happened again

Today, after the umpteenth time that Apple Home recognized that I was away from home while I was at home and after having spent 3 hours with Apple on the phone in vain, I disabled location-based automations. Definitely unreliable

Not as far as I've seen, but mine is still working after I offloaded and reinstalled the Home app.

I reset the location in settings and privacy because the two HomeKit icons under the localisation services had reappeared

Since I updated to 17.1 the location is exactly positioned where home location is shown in Apple Maps. Before the update it was off a few hundred meters again.

Maybe the bug fix for frequent locations also solved our problem.

Has anyone had the problem with 17.1?

I will keep an eye on it over the next few days.

I have the same issue. It reset my home location to 2 miles down the road from my home. Before driving home I changed my home address in my contacts to be associated with school and not home. I drove home and then reset my home address to be labeled home and it was fixed. This will be my third attempt at fixing this in different ways. Additionally for some reason my wife cannot be invited to this home or any home at the moment. Can someone let me know if there is a fix for this. I am in desperate need of being able to invite my side back to be an owner of the home and it always gives the error “cannot complete this operation”. It’s becoming infuriating.

Had it happen again this morning. When I went to bed everything was still fine, and at 5am I was woken up by a flurry of notifcations because the home location had shifted about 600 meters north and i wasn't "at home" anymore.

I don't understand how it gets to that place, I don't even pass near there regularly.

This time resetting significant locations on my phone and restarting didn't fix it, i also had to do the same on my ipad and reboot the home hubs. It's so annoying

We may hope that Apple will fix this stupid issue very soon. I have disabled all my automations where location is included, so now my 'Smart Home' is not smart anymore. 🫤

It has been working for years without any glitches, but iOS 17 did something .....

What a clusterf**k! I just upgraded to iOS 17.1.2 and my location based automation stopped working. Never had an issue before, but as stated in this thread, HomeKit thinks my house is about 300 ft from where it actually is and nothing seems to fix it.

Fortunately, I only had a simple automation that triggers my Arrive Home scene and I only had it set up for when I arrive home, so I changed it to a personal automation for now.

I deleted the home app to be safe. the only thing is that to do this you have to delete the homepods and consequently all the automations linked to them. I read that before the transition to the new architecture the homekit information was saved inside the device, but now everything is saved in the cloud, in fact the automations and accessories have not been deleted. This data conflict could also be creating the problem

Same problem here, with a slightly different wrinkle. I have two homes, 400 miles apart. With the "upgrade" to iOS 17, the Home app on my iPhone always thinks it's at the northern home location. The only way to get Home to use the southern home location is to set it in the Home app menu. And once set in the Home app, and I do anything else with the iPhone, the next time I go to the Home app, the location has reverted back to the northern home location.

The upshot of this? I have to manually set the home location in the Home app while at the southern location before I try to use Siri to do any Home command, like turn on a light. If I don't, it will execute that command at the northern home. And since I'm not there, I end up turning on lights or the furnace and not noticing that they are on! So it's not just an inconvenience, it's down right dangerous.

FWIW, the iPhone is running 17.4.1, and each home has an AppleTV 4 running HomeKit with the latest TvOS update.

I changed of iPhone and now it works. Looks like the reset of privacy and location is key.
