15 pro max identifies as iPhone 16,2

Having bought the new iPhone 15 pro max I had to unauthorize 2 of my banking apps from the old iPhone. The apps are locked to the device and one has to unauthorize them before you are allowed to run them on a new device.

Once I installed the bank apps on the new phone I got emails from the banks ( 2 separate banks)

“ You successfully registered a new device ; Device name- iPhone 16,2, Os type- iOS; Os version-17.02”

How is iPhone 15 pro max being logged as iPhone 16,2
