When I trade in my old iPhone with a physical SIM, do I take the SIM out before shipping the old phone back?

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and upgraded to a 15 Pro Max which provides an eSIM. The 11 Pro Max has a physical SIM and I have to trade in that phone, so should I remove the physical SIM before shipping?

When you activate your new device, the carrier will disable the old sim and it can never be restored. Therefore it is useless and you can just toss it.

Yes, if you pay for the sim card you can just take it out.
