Apple sold me an old Mac....

Please help....

I have just purchased a new MacBook Air M2 direct from Apple.

During the set-up process I noticed in 'About my Mac' it states the the unit is a 2022 model.

I was confused as I purchased this in September 2023....

I contacted support, they said that they no longer assign units an 'early', 'mid' and 'late' to the year and that the 2022 means the year of the launch....

This really does not sit well with me and I find it hard to believe.

Can anyone confirm whether this is true?

Please help.

Many thanks.

You've not been sold and "old" Mac. Apple sold you the newest version of what you ordered that was in stock but manufactured earlier.

If the process doesn't sit well with you, return it for a full refund and buy the computer that makes you happy.
