Facebook in-app notifications not showing up on iPad
Background info: I have just recently bought a brand new iPad 10th gen and promptly updated it to iOS 17.0.2, before installing the apps I want on it. So far, everything is working as intended, except for the Facebook app. For some reason, the in-app red notification dots are not showing up on the "notifications" tab on the bottom right. I am not speaking about push notifications that appear on the desktop icon, as I have those purposefully turned off for the Facebook app, but the red dots that show up specifically once in the app, letting you know of new posts and such. I have also noticed that none of the other red dot notifications are showing up for things like new videos, marketplace, etc, and even the messenger icon on the top right will not show red dot notifications when I get a facebook message. It should be noticed that the separate Facebook Messenger app is showing push notifications properly.
This is what I have tried to fix the problem:
- Delete and reinstall Facebook app
- Clear Facebook browser data
- Confirm that notification options are turned on under the "notification dots" menu, which hides under the "Your Time on Facebook" menu
- Logged out of Facebook account, then back in.
- As a last-ditch effort, turned on push notifications
Nothing has worked. Has anyone else experienced this problem and managed to fix it? I know it's not exactly a "big" problem, but it is annoying, especially since the Facebook app works completely fine on my iPhone 11.
