Excessive CPU usage by exchangenotesd and exchangesyncd

I noticed excessive CPU usage by exchangenotesd and exchangesyncd (instead of memory usage reported by others). This is under Sonoma (14.0)

When I deleted my Exchange (Outlook) mail account (and hotmail account), my system got a lot quieter.

Anybody can offer other solution than deleting the account?

So instead of deleting all the exchange accounts from "internet accounts". I just toggled off the contacts and notes syncing in that section.

Then moved to activity monitor and killed those 2 processes, they restart automatically but at an acceptable CPU usage

Hello Gerd-Jan Lortzer,

You may wish to try testing things out in a new user account on the Mac. This will help to see if the issue may be specific to something in the current user account or if it's system-wide: Add a user or group on Mac - Apple Support

Restarting the Mac can also help in some some instances as well: Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

If this is an Intel-based Mac, and not an Apple silicon one, then you may also try an SMC reset which can help with some performance-related issues. This page has the steps for that if needed: Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

Cheers.

Removed outlook account from my list of Mail accounts and the problem was gone. This is my work email, which is primarily running on my windows laptop. I had it on my iMac to monitor. On the windows machine no issues. I’ll see if the problem persists when I use proper Outlook App iso Apple’s Mail App. Btw, no problems when have the account attached to Mail on my iPhone. Strange.
