iPhone 15 Pro Max Photos Blurry

I’ve gone from a 13 pro max to a 15 pro max. Used my 13 for taking photos at gigs / concerts. Fast moving low light. Always used live mode and used to get some pretty good, in focus shots. Was excited to start using my 15, but the photos are appallingly bad. So blurry, even in good light with the subject relatively still. When zoomed in the resolution is so bad all of the detail is lost and it looks worse than some photos I used to get from my old Nokia 95 decades ago. Also the sound quality on videos is nowhere near as good. Sounds very dull and tinny compared to 13 pro max. So disappointed. Considering returning it and going back to 13.

Any updates on this?

Me and my wife are both coming from iPhone 11 Pro which had amazing camera, both our iPhones 15 Pro Max take blurry, out of focus pictures, even in full sunlight.

Is this something that started with iPhone 14 and new, bigger camera sensor and is normal for all 15’s or is there something with our both 15s Pro max?

I have a 15 Pro Max and it takes FANTASTIC photos, so it can't be a Max issue.
I agree, seems to be a minority and I wonder about the shooting conditions etc too

Me too. Are they using the right camera for the scene they are taking a picture of? Have they read this link to get the best results out of the cameras on their iPhone --> About the Camera features on your iPhone - Apple Support

Sure, these are point and shoot cameras, but they are NOT like the cameras on iPhone from years ago, where there was only one camera and few camera settings to capture the best photos.

So do you guys recommend having apple look at the phone regardless, I mean my back camera is good but the selfie camera is where it’s letting me down, unless I just swipe left and then it takes a decent photo, but my question would also be that before the photo is taken, the pic looks great and normal on live camera but it’s after the photo is taken it darkens a little and therefore it can suggest being software rather than hardware issue

This is my exact issue as well! The back camera still doesn’t compare to my old phone, but I’ve been even more disappointed in the front camera. I’ve suspected the same around a software issue, and pray it is resolved soon as I’d hate to return and get an older model again. My photos appear great, then once viewing them, look as though they’ve been edited or a bad filter has been out on them, it darkens and looks grainy even in great light, it still isn’t captured the same way it appears. Please let me know if you find my solutions.

You can, however it depends on where you bought the phone from if it’s Apple online they re going to tell you to contact them and then run a diagnostic test to which no fault appears in the hardware, and because ur phone is within 14 day period all they can do is take the phone back and replace it and if your lucky and there is stock available they might replace it at the Apple Store but because demand is so high you are likely going to wait 4-6 weeks for a brand new phone to which there is a chance the camera problem might happen still. This is why I took decision to return it and wait a few months until problem is solved then get the phone when demand wouldn’t be so high and might get it for a lower price somewhere with some deals.

I’m having this problem on a 15 pro, girlfriend also same issue on 15 pro max. I went to the Apple Store today to ask about this, and the Genius Bar guy said IF it’s a software issue, Apple would fix it in a future update, but he was unaware of any fixes in the pipeline. I have side by side photos from my old iPhone X and the X photos are much better quality. They were unwilling to replace the phone for me. So, not thrilled to be paying off a phone for the next couple of years with a practically non usable camera. If this issue doesn’t fix itself soon I will be switching to android or exchanging for an iPhone 13, as my side business is dependent on quality photos taken by phone. In my opinion the correct course of action for Apple would have been to try replacing the phone to see if that solves the issue and proves hardware related issue. No such luck here.
