iPhone 15 Pro Max Photos Blurry

I’ve gone from a 13 pro max to a 15 pro max. Used my 13 for taking photos at gigs / concerts. Fast moving low light. Always used live mode and used to get some pretty good, in focus shots. Was excited to start using my 15, but the photos are appallingly bad. So blurry, even in good light with the subject relatively still. When zoomed in the resolution is so bad all of the detail is lost and it looks worse than some photos I used to get from my old Nokia 95 decades ago. Also the sound quality on videos is nowhere near as good. Sounds very dull and tinny compared to 13 pro max. So disappointed. Considering returning it and going back to 13.

Update: The only thing that fully fixed it is doing an express exchange and getting a new device. Something was definitely wrong with the first device. Photos on new device look great

I’m having this problem on a 15 pro, girlfriend also same issue on 15 pro max. I went to the Apple Store today to ask about this, and the Genius Bar guy said IF it’s a software issue, Apple would fix it in a future update, but he was unaware of any fixes in the pipeline. I have side by side photos from my old iPhone X and the X photos are much better quality. They were unwilling to replace the phone for me. So, not thrilled to be paying off a phone for the next couple of years with a practically non usable camera. If this issue doesn’t fix itself soon I will be switching to android or exchanging for an iPhone 13, as my side business is dependent on quality photos taken by phone. In my opinion the correct course of action for Apple would have been to try replacing the phone to see if that solves the issue and proves hardware related issue. No such luck here.

I have a 15 Pro Max and it takes FANTASTIC photos, so it can't be a Max issue.
I agree, seems to be a minority and I wonder about the shooting conditions etc too

Me too. Are they using the right camera for the scene they are taking a picture of? Have they read this link to get the best results out of the cameras on their iPhone --> About the Camera features on your iPhone - Apple Support

Sure, these are point and shoot cameras, but they are NOT like the cameras on iPhone from years ago, where there was only one camera and few camera settings to capture the best photos.

Yessss! This is exactly me too! I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I just received the 15 Pro Max in the mail yesterday. I’ve been taking and comparing the pictures between the two. I am appalled. The 15 PM takes terrible pictures. Most are out of focus and darker when compared to my 11 PM. I’m so disappointed because I heard great things about this years camera upgrades. Sadly, I’m probably going to send back the 15 and keep my 11.

My pro max was taking ok sharp’ photos when I first got it… but now my wife’s and daughter’s with their standard iPhone 13s - are taking sharper and less noisy/grainy side by side pictures - as compared at my granddaughter’s stage performance.

…changing to the high res options does not improve my shots. My pro max lenses are clean. The iPhone hasn’t had any trauma or damage.

First of all, I don't take photos with my front facing "selfie" camera. It was never intended to be a camera for anything other than selfies and video calls. For what it was designed to be, it does a fine job. If I want to take a good photo, I use the rear cameras, which are specifically designed to take the best photos. The front camera is a small aperture camera with its stated purpose, which is just fine for that purpose. Expecting it to take photos anywhere near the quality of the rear cameras is expecting too much.

Same here!! The iPhone 15 Pro Max's camera doesn't give the expected result. The image has a terrible quality, the photo is pixelated and grainy, it costs too much to focus the lenses correctly. It is impossible to take photos of documents in which all the text is clearly read, blurs the edges of the text and is only sharp in the center. It's really annoying and problematic the issue of the focus and the graininess of the photo, I come from an iPhone X that takes photos with better sharpness quality than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. For me the camera is indispensable and I'm having a very bad experience. Selfies aren't good either, the photo shown in the preview is beautiful and once you take it, it changes to grayish tones and starts to look grainy as well. Please solve this situation, it is very worrying, it's terrifying to think that it's hardware issues.

I had a 13 pro max which I was satisfied with.

upgradede to 15 pro max JUST FOR THE CAMERA.

picure quality for anything but 1/2x and 1x is so bad I can hardly describe.

been to a Genius Bar and they told me this is a common complaint.

wait.. what? seriously?

I bought several dozens apple products and this one is such a big disappointment that I question apple now.
