iPhone 15 Pro Max Photos Blurry

I’ve gone from a 13 pro max to a 15 pro max. Used my 13 for taking photos at gigs / concerts. Fast moving low light. Always used live mode and used to get some pretty good, in focus shots. Was excited to start using my 15, but the photos are appallingly bad. So blurry, even in good light with the subject relatively still. When zoomed in the resolution is so bad all of the detail is lost and it looks worse than some photos I used to get from my old Nokia 95 decades ago. Also the sound quality on videos is nowhere near as good. Sounds very dull and tinny compared to 13 pro max. So disappointed. Considering returning it and going back to 13.

Any updates on this?

Me and my wife are both coming from iPhone 11 Pro which had amazing camera, both our iPhones 15 Pro Max take blurry, out of focus pictures, even in full sunlight.

Is this something that started with iPhone 14 and new, bigger camera sensor and is normal for all 15’s or is there something with our both 15s Pro max?

did you buy yours in the states?

read an article today that popped up on google, so don't know if it is reputable.

Title "iPhone 15 Pro ratings drop below iPhone 14 and 13 Pro, according to 700k reviews"

(Portion taken from it) After the iPhone 14 Pro saw an 8% drop in the number of 5-star reviews compared to the 13 Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro dropped to a new low of 72% being 5-star reviews just over a month since its launch.

Yessss! This is exactly me too! I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I just received the 15 Pro Max in the mail yesterday. I’ve been taking and comparing the pictures between the two. I am appalled. The 15 PM takes terrible pictures. Most are out of focus and darker when compared to my 11 PM. I’m so disappointed because I heard great things about this years camera upgrades. Sadly, I’m probably going to send back the 15 and keep my 11.

I have been dealing with this issue for almost 30 days going back and forth with Apple support chat, then phone calls, escalated to the engineers. Wasted countless hours troubleshoots and on phone calls etc and Nothing has worked. Apple said I could do express exchange but they want to put a hold on my credit card for full price of the phone until they receive the other back. Ummm NO! So I have appointment with my local Verizon store tomorrow at noon to get my replacement ordered through them instead.

Same here. Tested 13/14/15/15pro15/promax against my 12 and old SE. Alle the 15s are worse than the rest. I have replaced my 15 for a new 15 one in box. But I am not sure what to do. Seems like it’s not a hardware issue but software. Besides blurry pics i also found it’s doing a super aggressive noise reduction which makes faces look like plastic Barbie.

How in the world this got released? Btw it does not matter which iOS its present in 17.0.2, 17.0.3 and 17.1.

thought I was crazy. But others agreed and they left the store not buying a 15. They all came for the camera upgrades but hey maybe sticking to your old phone is best until this is fixed.

Update: apple switched to random serial few years back. So we can’t find date anymore. Bummer.

Settings/general/about.

”The serial number has a total of 10 characters. Spot the third, fourth, and fifth characters; these will tell you the year and week your phone was manufactured. The third character shows the year. For instance, 4 = 2014, 6 = 2016, and the following two shows the week, 07 stands for the 7th week of the year. “

I sent mine back and have the refund. using old SE now. searching for a 13pro refurb. apples says you can still buy the apple care through them. I'm not convinced the 15 ever had better quality than the 13. There is a youtube video that side by side compares the 10-15 camera. Such a shame. The camera is the reason I and many people bought it.

I don’t think you can see the manufacturing date of the phone (it’s the battery date shown). I have my original iPhone 15 Pro Max that I received on launch day and have never had any of the issues mentioned (nor have I had any camera issues on any of my previous Pro Max devices despite every year it seems to be an influx of posts about how terrible the current model camera is). That’s not to say some of you aren’t having issues but I definitely can’t say I have experienced any of it or seen it with any other iPhones in my household or from friends and family with them so it’s just not something I can replicate.

My pro max was taking ok sharp’ photos when I first got it… but now my wife’s and daughter’s with their standard iPhone 13s - are taking sharper and less noisy/grainy side by side pictures - as compared at my granddaughter’s stage performance.

…changing to the high res options does not improve my shots. My pro max lenses are clean. The iPhone hasn’t had any trauma or damage.

Never used a lens protector and I use a lens cloth to remove fingerprints. This is a real issue that any other company would address immediately if you spent $1500 on their equipment.

Schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar. I'm not sure how Apple can address an issue which doesn't effect most of the iPhone 15 Pro models in peoples hands. It certainly isn't an issue on our 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max.
