SPSS 29 is doesn't work in Sonoma

After launching SPSS 29.0.0.0 the window "Server login: Local computer" appears and there is no way to login. Looks like the program cannot find license (installed on the same computer). IBM support does not provide a solution

IBM needs to edit the "readme.txt" file that is downloaded along with the patch code file. In the V29 file the application itself is visible but all of the other associated files are HIDDEN. So - the text file should add a step to Right Click on the "SPSS Statistics" app icon to then see the hidden file folders to see the Show Package Contents (and direct the user to click on that to open); then find the"lib" folder and Then move over the downloaded patch file ("libplated.dylib")

This was really frustrating for me (wasted at least an hour looking for help). Many others on Apple's user community website also could not figure this out from the incomplete instructions provided by IBM.

Maybe someone should make a YouTube video to show people how all these steps need to go for it to actually work.

Never-the-less, this is not IBM SPSS support and IBM owns the proper functionality of SPSS on macOS Sonoma (if they still intend to support it macOS). Apple provides them with the software development tools to achieve that goal and it is up to IBM to make SPSS compatible with Sonoma. They may still be working on it… so contact IBM SPSS support again.

Have you checked to see if there is a recent update to SPSS 29?
