Hello hocc_2005,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand the importance of having this feature working as expected, and we'd like to look into this with you.

To get started, we'd like to gather some information:

  • Which watchOS version is running on your Apple Watch? Settings > General > About on your Apple Watch.
  • Which iOS version is running on the paired iPhone? Settings > General > About on your iPhone.

If you haven't already, let's try to restart the paired iPhone and your Apple Watch by following the steps here:

Restart your iPhone

Restart Apple Watch

Restarting is a simple step that can resolve many unexpected behaviors.

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

wrist down -> all three items (show complication data, show apps, show notifications

That's an option you can turn off or on. In the Watch app on your phone, go to Display & Brightness>Always On>Wrist Down>Show Complications Data. You can turn it on for everything or just for some things. To get the date to show, it needs to be on for Calendar.

hocc_2005,

As the date can be shown, this tells us that it's not an issue with settings or privacy. Both device are fully up to date. You've tried restarting your devices. You've tried toggling the date within the complication. You can try to toggle the complication itself by selecting another watch face and going back to the original one.

If it continues after toggling the watch face, as you've done all the troubleshooting you can on your end, the next step will be to contact Apple Support: Get Support.

Take care.
