If you upgraded to macOS Sonoma, and your SPSS 26 software is no longer working, it's possible that the upgrade may have caused compatibility issues. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
Remember to back up your data before making significant changes to your system or attempting a clean install. It's also important to verify the official system requirements and compatibility of your software with the macOS version you are using.
The new IBM patch (called an Interim Fix or IF hotlink on their website) only is for Version 29.
Look into boot camping your Mac if it allows you to, I'm not sure which models are the cutoff for this feature. I did this with windows and then downloaded SPSS on that (you can download the Microsoft ISO for the bootcamp from their website which is free and I think it has instructions). My SPSS came with two computer locations, if yours just came with one you will have to buy another one but it's the only solution I found.
In case you don't have IBM's developer account to download this essential fix, you can find the direct link to download this interim fix here: https://ak-delivery04-mul.dhe.ibm.com/sdfdl/v2/sar/CM/IM/0bq2i/1/Xa.2/Xb.jusyLTSp44S03cPwAzVaWFtZfjix1cg1NIurT2zxPUXRrtA8e63ws9lScYY/Xc.CM/IM/0bq2i/1/29.0.1.0-IM-S29STATC-MAC-IF001.zip/Xd./Xf.LPR.F1az/Xg.12508146/Xi.habanero/XY.habanero/XZ.4B3Loi020KB7rEh2yvwBIL4YfCf1hnrM/29.0.1.0-IM-S29STATC-MAC-IF001.zip?_gl=1*38mfg*_ga*MTMwODAxNzAxMy4xNjk2OTEzNTA5*_ga_FYECCCS21D*MTY5NjkxMzUwOC4xLjEuMTY5NjkxNDM2Ni4wLjAuMA..
I have the same problem - the readme.text file in the patch I downloaded today specifies a folder that does not exist for V29.
Oh, I just saw the comment to Right Clock on the Statistics App to see the hidden folders. And I found the lib folder. I moved over the downloaded fix file ("libplatep.dylib"). But now after that final step as instructed - It still won't open - just has the same popup window asking for a local server.
You may need to have the current version of Java software installed first to then download the IBM SPSS interim fix code. Also, there are three versions of the fix code from IBM do you should match the version number to your version of SPSS V29
SPSS 29 has issues on Sonoma too, so your SPSS 26 is already in the weeds for version currency.
It was version 29. Download the fix from IBM. Then click on SPSS app but don’t open it. Option click on it and open contents. Find the folder called lib and paste in the file from IBM.
Look for VirginiaSlimm and follow those instructions. It worked for me once I did that on version 29.
i just update my Java
IBM has released a patch for SPSS 29 - Mac OS Sonoma problem. You can download the patch with your developer account. SPSS 29.0.1.0 version worked fine with this patch.
Did you figure out how to open SPSS with IOS 14? I'm completely screwed if I can't get it open.
Neither SPSS version 28 nor 29 works with Sonoma. It cannot connect to the server.
Do you think it's something they will fix in the IMB side? Or do I need to get a different version of SPSS?
There is a new patch for SPSS 29 released by IBM - for Mac OS Sonoma problem. You can download the patch with your developer account. Fix Pack: 29.0.1.0-IM-S29STATC-MAC-IF001
Look for Virginiaslimmms comment and follow the instruction cos mine started working after I did what they suggested
