macOS - Volume Name: Not applicable (no file system)
I have a MacBook pro late 2016 model with a drive that is really corrupted. I cannot access recovery mode no matter what I did so I could not fix it. I decided I will install a new OS with a bootable drive and format the disk in the process. That worked and I had a MacBook that could turn on. The drive was still corrupt and I still could not enter recovery mode no mater what.
Later on an OS update comes and I do the update and this mac is stuck on "Optimizing your mac" after I put in my login credentials. I decided to use the same approach of installing a new OS with bootable drive except that this time after formatting the drive hoping to fix it, I am somehow in a situation where I have a drive with no accessible volumes and so I cannot install an OS on the MacBook.
I ran the command <<diskutil info /dev/[diskidentifier]>> on both volumes to check their infor and I can identify the following problems:
Volume name: Not applicable (no file system)
Mounted: Not applicable (no file system)
File System: None
I believe this is the root of the problem. The repair volume command and verify volume command both do not work on either volumes. it leaves me with this error that says "Unrecognised file system (-69846)"
Please does anyone know how I can fix these problems?
