Strange mouse click issue after updating Sonoma on MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro M1 2020, it's having some strange mouse click issues right after I updated to macOS Sonoma. Anyone having the same problem? I hope Apple fixes the problem soon, it's irritating.

It was happening because I had McAfee total protection enabled. It's all fixed, mcAfee total protection will have to come out with an an update so it will be compatible with macOS Sonoma. I contacted Apple about it and they was doing a screen share. I disabled the virus protection.

My problem is only with the right click not functioning - a restart restores it but only for a short time - hours. I can get around it somewhat, like if I want to save something before restarting, by left clicking then using arrow keys and return to select an option.

Contacted apple and they suggested "Increase "tracking speed" and "click" to fast" in the mouse settings - and if it happens again to contact them for more suggestions. I asked if it was a known issue and this was the fix - "No its not a known issue and its a rare one."

Me: I've seen it on redit and not seen this solution.

Apple: No worries if you will still facing the same issue then we can try more workarounds but this one is just a normal steps in which I just change the trackpad section to check if that resolved the issue and if not then we will check other workarounds.

Me: ok thanks

Apple: Because after performing the troubleshooting we have to check if the issue still persist or not and right now you are unable to check so because of that I have shared the link so that you can connect us back on this chat conversation and we will check other workarounds.

I hope you have a great day ahead .

Thank you for your time.

I'm also having issues with my mouse after a few days of updating to Sonoma. I tested different mice and the problem is definitely the Mac. The mouse is recognized, but the left click is not working properly. I click on the menus, and they open, but then I cannot select any option. The weirdest thing is that when I restart the computer I'm able to use the mouse properly (when the system is still restarting)one time and then it is broken again. I need to use the tab or arrows on the keyboard to select things. I'm not sure how it could be related, but the problem started when I plugged the computer into a different screen than I usually do.

Now, as these are Bluetooth devices, so how about uninstalling them from Bluetooth from your Mac and reinstalling them? Mind you, both my Magic devices are used ones and they work.

I tried reinstalling through Bluetooth and my receiver and it didn't work. Your MBP is Intel based? I have Mac mini M1, perhaps this issue is with M chips only. Only thing that helped a little was uninstalling Logi Options+, bug still occurs but not as often as before.

Hmmm... I thought this had gone away because it hadn't happened in many weeks for me, but it seems to have come back with a vengeance since updating to Sonoma 14.3 (and now 14.3.1) and is once again happening on a near-daily basis.

I have both an Apple Magic Trackpad and Logitech MX Master 3S connected to my M1 MacBook Pro that's typically running in clamshell mode connected to an external monitor. Interestingly, when the problem happened today I was able to recover by switching off the Magic Trackpad and switching it back on again. It's obviously too early to say whether this is a repeatable means of recovery, but it's the first time I've been able to get it back without restarting. Will try again the next time it happens.

I have just experienced this issue (M1 Max MBP with Sonoma 14.4) but *only* with one particular 3rd-party app.

I can control this app's dialog popups with the keyboard and with the trackpad, but when using the Magic Mouse each button either doesn't work, or requires about 10 clicks to work.

The app uses a cross-platform GUI, but its prior version works fine with the mouse; all other apps with cross-platform GUIs work fine.

Did not fix for long, unfortunately. However, as I have this issue with two Logi mice, one directly connected with Macs BT and the other vial Logi dongle ... one has to consider that the problem is with Logitech and not Apple. I tried these two mice on my MacBook Pro and found the same issues exist. Both my MCP and MM1 are running Sanoma. I'm inclined to think Logitech might be the one that needs to create a remedy.
