I had to get a new physical card and I asked support how to recycle the old card and they must have googled it because it’s the same 4+ year old instructions that don’t work anymore. There’s no option in the app to select AppleCard in the recycling section.
Your new card came with a cardboard envelope that includes a UPS label. Just put your card in the envelope and send it back to Apple.

The FedEx “envelope” was included in the package (it was separate from the other packaging).
Don’t make it harder than it has to be. Drill out the chip and take a sander (sandpaper) to the magnetic stripe on the back of the card.
Here it is June 8, a day after the above instructions for return of an expired Apple Card. I got my new card via the USPS today, and the carboard shipping box doesn't look like the above pictures from TheCommishKev. There is certainly no shipping label, no shipping envelope for return of the original card. I will take my side grinder and cut the card into a couple of pieces and drop them in separate trash cans.
Sounds like yours is a >replacement< card and was shipped differently than the replacement card that was lost. Apple will provide the shipping materials if you call 1-800-MY-APPLE and explain the situation. You’re also welcome to build you titanium iCar. 😁😁
You’re correct, the Store app does not have recycling information. I think you confused trade-in and recycling. The app is a portal to the Apple Store. Apple Store is for sales of products and services. Recycling is not a >sales< type item and is accessed through the website. I would have thought the Support app would have had the information necessary to recycle the titanium card. But after a thurough search, they lacked information on recycling. I left a suggestion at the link below.

Then go to "Other Products, click on "Recycle", you will see "Apple Card" listed under "Device Type"
Login on a computer to Apple.com. Go to support, search for trade in, click on recycling link on right, then get started. Click drop down arrow and then “Apple Card”. Fill in info. Done!
That does NOT work. As mentioned in my original post, these instructions are old and AppleCard does NOT appear as an option. I should mention this is on my phone and it ALWAYS launches the store app when I follow these instructions. The store app has no provision for AppleCard recycling. See screenshot of what I get every time:

I am a tiny bit puzzled as to why there were so many noble statements about Apple's commitment to recycling and they actually don't seem to want the titanium back. I'm going to save a lot of titanium cards, find some lithium and build myself a car.

I beg to differ. There was nothing in the small cardboard package I received the card in except the card. And it didn't come via Fedex, it came by USPS. They tried to send me a card two weeks prior using UPS, and it got lost.
Jeff-I think that is exactly the situation. I have a replacement for a replacement card, and it got shipped differently. Maybe they will keep sending them-8,000 more and I will have enough for the iCar.
Never mind. I finally found the buried link that launches the web version. The Store app doesn’t have the needed info, but the web version in a browser does. Bad design.
