I am a graphic designer and this is becoming a wide issue in the last 48 hours. Majority of QR codes connected to a link starting with "https://www." is not scanning. It is coming up saying "preview reels" than "not available in your country. I know over a dozen businesses that just lost a collective $30-$40 grand if this is not fixable. @Apple @AppleSupport PLEASE REPLY. PLEASE FIX THE ISSUE ASAP.

I’ve had the exact same!, I’ve just had some business cards and advertising for my company produced, after checking and double check (and checking again!) the QR code worked perfectly, then yesterday I went to pick up the products and tested the QR code and the same message comes up! Very frustrating please can we get this sorted asap otherwise all my advertising is completely scrap! I have done some investigating tho and it does work for Samsung users! so we know it’s not Instagram that’s the issue! Oh it also works on an old iPhone 13! So it’s just effecting the new ones that have the latest update!!

I am seeing the issue on our school Gen 6 iPads. Not only is the iPad not able to scan QR codes with the camera, it is now an issue with 3rd party apps we use with QR Code login access: Clever and Seesaw are 2 big ones! Our youngest students access their login with QR codes...APPLE...PLEASE TELL US YOU HAVE A FIX! This impacts our entire school community.

Those suggesting it’s an IG problem are wrong because I updated my IG today after reading this thread and it didn’t fix the problem. I’m running the latest iOS 17.5.1. I didn’t even change anything from yesterday to today. It just suddenly stopped working. Anyone else have other ideas? I restarted camera app, shutdown phone, force closed all apps as well. Nothing is fixing the problem.

Force-restart the iPhone, then check whether the camera lens is clear and clean and with no visible water within and the camera is working correctly otherwise, test with a different QR code example such as the Wikipedia example included below, then check with Apple Support.

Hey there 100indy,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

To get started, have you tried restarting your iPhone to see if the issue persists? While restarting may seem like a simple step, it can often help with resolving some unexpected issues like this: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

If still unable to scan QR codes after restarting your iPhone, are you currently updated to the latest iOS version 17.0.2? If not, updating the iOS may also be able to help with the you're seeing.

For help with updating the iOS on your iPhone, check out this next link here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Lastly, does the issue occur when trying to scan a QR code using the Camera app, or when trying to use the QR scanner from the Control Center?

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Take care.

This is a user-to-user forum. Apple may or may not read postings around here.

If this is the Camera app not working, contact Apple.

If this is a third-party app (Instagram?), contact the third-party app vendor.

Test QR — https://www.apple.com — works in Camera app on iOS 17.3.1:

Works in Photos app on iPadOS 17.3.1, too:

This is a an old thread, and I’m unsure which app was being used.

If you open the Apple Camera app, and aim it at the QR code, does that scan the QR code?

If you’re having issues with a third-party scanning app as it appears, remove the app restart the iPhone, re-download the app, and try again.

Based on the app clip error, this looks like whatever app you’re using is having issues. If so, you’ll want to discuss this app with the third-party app support group.

Camera app and Photos app both scan correctly on current model iPhone on iOS 17.3.1 and current model iPad Pro on iPadOS 17.3.1.

And again, if this is Instagram app y’all are scanning these QR codes with, contact Instagram Support. Instagram supports that, not Apple.

Apple is not here, and may or may not read postings around here.

As has been shown above, QR code scanning works, and — per a reply above — the IG app is also now working.

For assistance with third-party apps, contact the app providers. They’re in the best position to resolve this, or to work directly with Apple should this be some iPad- or iPadOS-specific problem.

The app vendor might be interested in knowing whether your iPad 6th gen correctly scans a QR code via the camera too, and — given that detail was omitted here — I’ll assume that scan is working.

Hi,could you solve this problem? we have same issue in our app? Is there any idea to share us?

As the developer involved, you can open a code-level support request with Apple Developer Support, if this "our app" means you're supporting the app having issues with QR code scanning. This assuming the app is using the built-in Apple QR code scanning framework, and not some other third-party framework for that scanning.

If this isn't an app you're directly working on, then check for app updates first, then contact the people supporting the app; contact the third-party app vendor.
