Since this iOS 17 update I can no longer search my messages on my iPhone but I can still search on my iPad… HELP!!! It’s been 2 additional updates since the 17 update and it still isn’t working!!!!

I had this issue as well and I was able to fix it! I figured out that for me, it was because not all of my iMessages had downloaded from iCloud. This is how I fixed it:
1. Before bed, I put my phone on the charger and was prepared not to use it for the rest of the night
2. Settings —> Apple ID, iCloud+, Media & Purchases (at the top) —> iCloud —> Show All (under Apps Using iCloud) —> Messages —> toggle off “Sync this iPhone” —> click “Disable and Download Messages” —> wait a minute or so, then toggle back on “Sync this iPhone”
3. Open iMessages app (there should be a message at the bottom of the screen that reads “Syncing with iCloud”)
4. Set my phone down without locking it (still plugged in) and didn’t touch it for the rest of the night (I don’t know if the “without locking it” part was necessary, it may still work if you lock the phone but this is what I did [I had my auto-lock display settings set to “Never”])
5. The next morning, I tried searching a word I know I’ve used a lot over the years and was able to see everything :)

Yeah you’re right. It probably is worth a try since all else has failed.
The caps still won’t stay highlighted. The predictive text is messed up. Curse won’t stay.. it’s just a whole mess. I’m going to try the rest this weekend so I don’t have to figure out all these WiFi passwords right now. Thank you for your suggestion.

My phone has been INDEXING since the September iOS 17 update. No matter the resets (hard included) it’s not working. No links or shared photos will download. The pic attached is what it says for all my contacts and when I click download it spins then does nothing.

Well the iOS 17.2 update fixed my indexing issues so now I’m able to search my messages!! YAYYY !!!!
But now my messages can’t properly sync to iCloud. 🥴. I was on the phone with Apple for 4.5hrs, they got it to finally sync only for it to finish up and say “sync paused”. so now i
hsve a follow up appt with Apple today at 4:30PM. At this point just give me a new phone with good software.

My iPadOS synced with no problem.
This JUST started in the last 10 days on my phone. I have every update, including 17.2-- and all my texts have disappeared except for the ones that are sitting on my phone from a couple of days. This is terrible. And I can't believe it's been going on for more than a year for some people. So Apple, what's up with this?
Effective today, 02.22.24 I cannot search my messages on iPhone. I followed provided guidance and was unsuccessful in ability to search iMessages; states “No Results”. Would appreciate hearing of any new advice.
