iPhone don’t recognize contact names in incoming calls

Hello.

After the IOS 17 update, my cellphone can’t recognize the names that I have on my contact list. I have an IPhone 12 Mini and I’m using roaming since I’m abroad. I’ve try everything. Full reset on settings and even on IPhone; changed region and restart again, remove dial assist; sync ICloud contacts with another list… and much more. I even removed the smart card from the Apple Watch. Nevertheless I have the names in my car and in Apple Watch. On the iPhone just the number without the country number. On some numbers appear “Maybe (contact name)”. The amazing thing is that when I go to recent calls everyday is correct but during incoming calls I only have the number. Thanks.

Hi mário48,

Thanks for posting. To confirm, if you open the Contacts app, you see the contact names and numbers as expected, and you see them in your call history as expected, but not when the call comes in, correct?

As a start, make sure you've updated to the latest for iOS 17. You can verify if you have anything available by tapping Settings > General > Software Update. Be sure to back up first: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Then check Settings > General > About to see if you're prompted for any carrier updates, which could help: Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If this doesn't help, we recommend contacting your wireless carrier next. They'd be in the best position to assist with a potential caller ID issue, particularly as you mentioned you're roaming.

Take care.
