iPhone no longer configure to allow calls after upgrading to MacOS Sonoma

has any one encountered the following error when using an iPhone with new MacOS Sonoma " Your iPone is not configured to allow calls using this Mac"?

iMac 24″, macOS 14.0

After two days chatting with Apple's support team I stumbled on the problem. The field "Start New Calls From" had become set to my wife's phone number. Neither Apple support nor myself had thought to check this field. Once this field was set to my phone number the problem was solved. This field some how got changed when I upgraded to MacOS Sonoma.

Use this link to make sure that your Mac settings are input correctly to allow you to make and receive calls. Make sure you meet the requirements and have enabled all the correct settings before trying to allow calls.

Before you begin

On your iPhone and your other devices, do the following (iOS 9, iPadOS 13, OS X 10.10, or later required):

* Set up FaceTime.

* Sign in with the same Apple ID.
