I try to pay close attention to what my boxes talk to on the net and I've noticed my new MBP reaching out to something called "tether.edge.apple" which is a CNAME for "tether.v.aaplimg.com."
What is this traffic? Why can't I find any information on it when I look into it? Creepy.

The "edge.apple" domain is used for Apple Edge Cache, a service that ISPs can utilize to deliver Apple content to their customers much faster by storing Apple content on the ISP's own servers.
Apple content can be delivered much faster on ISPs that partner with Apple to use Apple Edge Cache.
any idea what the "tether" host is used for in the AEC?
forwarding large email attachments is the first thing that comes to mind.

I don't use Mail.app at all.
