Why can't I press the right button to lock my iPhone 15 Pro Max?

Why can't I press the right button to lock my iPhone 15 Pro Max? All I get is either a black screen or Siri. Now the only way to lock my phone is to set the annoying timer lower? Wow, you call this phone an upgrade. Its just annoying that this feature does not exist or people who actually get paid to make videos avoid the question altogether when making the videos> Find one that actually answers the question. It makes no sene. Now powering off my phone is the only option which isnt the end of the world but thought the feature was nice.

Hi! Go to Settings - Display & Brightness - scroll down to Always On Display and turn that off.

A short press on the right side button on my iPhone 15 Pro Max locks the device, just like it has done on every other iPhone I have ever owned and used. Note that a longer press (1 or 2 seconds) does not lock, and if you have disabled the Always On screen display a black screen might be the expected result for a locked device. The Face ID unlock is also very smooth, so you might never notice it was locked.

If that doesn't fix your problem I suggest start by restarting your iPhone. Like many computer based devices, a reboot gets you to a known starting point and clears many software glitches.
