MacBook Pro m1 2020 display

Hi,

I’m having issues with the display on my MacBook Pro. The colours are off and images do not look right.

I’ve added 2 photos which shows the issue but these are more obvious when you see it in person. You can see in each photo the colours are slightly off on the MacBook Pro (Silver) compared to the MacBook Air (Midnight grey). If you look at the one which shows a MacBook, you will see it has a pink hue colour to it which is over exposed and the colours do not blend as well as the other. In the image of the young woman you can see highlights on her skin are over exposed and again do not blend in like on the other. Both of these MacBooks have True Tone turned off and the brightness on full. They are also using the same colour profile which is Display P3.

I thought this may have been caused by some settings somewhere but I’ve disabled everything and it’s still the same. I checked the display setting and turned off True Tone, checked the colour profile and any accessibility settings.

I've also done a hard reset and a fresh install but it’s still the same.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I’m starting to think that this may be a hardware issue over a software issue.

Hello lne_wlf,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

Is this a new issue with this Mac? If not, can you think of any changes that may have occurred with the device? This could include upgrading the software, or installing new apps. Do you see this color issue for everything on this Mac or is it isolated to a specific application?

We recommend trying the actions provided in Change your Mac display’s color profile - Apple Support to see if adjusting to colors and hues on your Mac help or attempt to calibrate the display. If the issue continues, you may want to reach out to Apple Support for additional guidance. You can contact them directly at Get Support.

Calibrate your Mac display - Apple Support

  1. "On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Displays  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Click the pop-up menu next to “Color profile” on the right, then choose Customize. The color profile for your display and a list of other color profiles appears.
  3. Click the Add button  to open Display Calibrator Assistant.
  4. Display Calibrator Assistant walks you through adjusting your display, then creates a calibrated color profile. The number of adjustments in the calibration process varies depending on the type of display.
  5. When the display profile is ready, it’s automatically assigned as your display’s color profile."
