Annoying activation of MacBook Air M2 by opening the lid

Every time I open the lid of the laptop (MacBook Air, M2) it starts the activation. It is annoying since I don`t want it to turn on, maybe I just want to wipe the screen and then close it. Seems like I don`t even have a choice, each time I open the lid I need to turn it off again. In the older version, I just had to click on the "start" button if I needed the device to turn on and that`s it.

What can be done?
