How to change the default timer sound?

The timer should default to whatever you selected last. But, if you want to change it, open the timer, tap on "When Timer Ends" and select the tone you want.

I was able to overcome the issue by deleting all timers, then set the sound to my preference. Once I did that, I can create any timer and it will use the new default sound I chose. This also works with Siri. HTH
Here's what I did that seems to be working (for the moment) to change the default timer noise when using Siri to start a timer (on iOS 17.4.1). Go to the Clock app and then go to the timer page. If you slide down you'll see a whole bunch of "Recent" timers you've used. Delete ALL of them. Then, manually make a new timer in the clock app using your preferred timer sound. Start it and confirm that your sound plays when times up. Now you can go back to the lock screen and ask Siri to start a timer. If you're lucky like me you'll get your sound to play. Good luck!

C’mon, Apple…FIX THIS BUG !!!
Instead of yelling at the people in this forum who cannot do anything about your demand, tell Apple:
I found a workaround for "Stop Playing" timer with Siri.
If you say "start timer for" it will be set with default radial sound.
But if you say "Start sleep timer for *" the timer will be set with a "Stop Playing".

Yes, this appears to be a bug that hitched a ride on the newest update. Like everyone here I’m frustrated at now being stuck with the insipid Radial no matter how often I change the alert sound.
Tell Apple:

No, Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user technical support forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

I hate the default setting being radial instead of radar! I have learned to tell Siri to set a timer for however long with the sound ending radar and that works. I wish they would fix it though because it’s very aggravating and I use my timer often!

There's no Clock app there so it is unclear where to provide product feedback. Can you direct more specifically, which would be helpful?
As Clock is one of the pre-installed apps, I would just put the feedback under "iPhone".

I found that when I set the timer to a classic sound I was finally able to change it from radial. Afterward I was able to set it to a song that was downloaded.
I too hate the radial sound. If I set my own timer to my favorite and then set another time, the timer remembers my choice. If Siri sets the timer, it goes back to radial. Apple, are you listening. Can we see this changed in the next OS upgrade please?
I agree that the timer should default to the last sound you used but it doesn’t. Radiate is the default sound and I need to change it. Thank you
Mine won’t get off of “radial” as a default. I change it for one and it comes back again if I used Siri to set a timer. Grrrr
it was never like this before the latest iOS update.
