Folders missing after update
I updated Sonoma this morning and after my MacBook restarted, all my desktop files were missing. How do I recover them?

Were the desktop files stored in Desktop and Documents in iCloud before the upGrade to macOS 14.0 Sonoma ?
Link below on enabling for disabling Desktop and Documents
Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive - Apple Support
Worst case Restore items backed up with Time Machine on Mac - Apple Support (CA)

all my desktop/downloan/documents folders were moved to the icloud drive
Check here:
~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs
I cant believe Apple would make this sort of amateurish change.
All my useful shortcuts are based on "Desktop" so now I have to rename all of them.
This has been a "VERY BAD USER EXPERIENCE, APPLE"
Sonoma update deleted my document folders that had many legal documents I need now and in the next two weeks. I know making changes is good in some cases, but do not destroy what I set up. Grrrrrrrr! I am in the middle of something and now this. Very unhappy.
I want to restore more than one document. I want my complete Document file and all folders inside back. Tell me how to retrieve them all as I do not have time to search for all individual file names. I want it out of iCloud and back where I can access them. Good grief!
Yes we understand the situation.

I apologize, I was just so upset, I did not realize I was being a pirate. I don't post often here, so do accept my apology.
