traded in my iphone, airpod pros (2nd gen) say they're not mine now that they’re connected to new phone

i recently traded in my iphone 11 for the iphone 15. i did a factory reset on my iphone 11 and gave it to my local provider’s store. i connected my airpod pros (2nd generation) that i bought NEW from target to my new iphone 15 and i keep getting notifications that the owner of the airpods can see my location. i am and always have been the only owner of these airpods. i already factory reset my old iphone, turned it in, so i have no way to remove it from my old phone’s “find my”. i’m not really sure what to do bc i keep getting notifications about the “owner”, WHICH IS ME, being able to see my location and my airpods keep making noise as if they’re lost. what do i do about this??

Hello ks129,

For issues where an item/device gives an alert that it's connected to another Apple ID then the steps here can help: If an item or device is connected to another Apple ID - Apple Support

If you're still using the same Apple ID as on the prior iPhone you may try resetting the AirPods using the steps here, which might help with the alerts/pairing: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support

Cheers.
